We held a seminar retreat in Taipei, Taiwan.

From September 5th to 8th, 2026, we held a seminar retreat in Taipei, Taiwan.

In this seminar, we value examining education from an international and comparative perspective, and questioning our own "taken-for-granted" assumptions while engaging with different societies and cultures. This retreat aimed to expand classroom learning into real-world interactions and experiences through exchanges with Taiwanese university students and visits to cultural and educational facilities.

During the training camp, we visited Chinese Culture University, with which our university has ties, and interacted with students from the Japanese language department. Through time spent talking with each other, it was a valuable opportunity to learn about university life and culture in Taiwan and Japan, and to deepen our exchange.

I also visited the Daisaku Ikeda Memorial Research Center and interacted with local teachers. Furthermore, I visited the Soka Art Museum Shizenkan and experienced Taiwanese culture and art.

During our stay, we visited places such as Shilin Market and Jiufen, and experienced firsthand the streets and culture of Taipei and its surrounding areas. Through interactions with local university students and professors, and encounters with culture and art, we each made new discoveries in an environment different from our usual classrooms over the course of four days.
