​​Kentaro Shimada (Ph.D.)

Kentaro Shimada is a Lecturer in the Department of Education, Faculty of Education, at Soka University, Japan. His research focuses on comparative and international education, with particular interests in international development education, educational equity, social mobility, and global citizenship education. He examines how education policies and school practices can expand people’s opportunities and capabilities, especially in Africa and Asia.

He teaches Comparative and International Education,  International Development in Education and is also involved in supporting UNESCO Schools. He received his Ph.D. from Kobe University. Before joining Soka University, he worked as an education consultant for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow, and a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor at Kyoto University.
